One of my favorite Bible verses is, “A man’s heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
This is so true! We may have our ideal life all planned out, but the Lord uses His own methods to lead us where He wants us to be.

Duane and I have a running joke about our two-year age difference. After our last birthdays (from which he once again emerged the elder), he pretty well ruined my lifelong ambition to catch up with him.
“You know,” Duane said with a glint in his eye, “when I’m one hundred,” (giving each syllable its full measure), “you’ll only be ninety-eight.”
